Husband. Birthday.

My spouse's birthday is coming up this Saturday. This is the conversation we had about it earlier this week.

Me: What should I get you for your birthday? I'd better get on it.
Him: You don't have to get me anything.
Me: What? Of course I'm going to get you something. Why wouldn't I get you a gift?
Him: I just mean if it's too much hassle.

Huh?

Me: Yeah, that's gonna go over well. "Happy Birthday, honey. I didn't get you anything because it was too much hassle." That will make you feel really good.
He laughed.
